The Most Wonderfully… Difficult… Time of the Year
You may not feel overjoyed today.
You may not have been woken by squealing children eager for gifts.
You may have had to carry your child to the Christmas tree and explain express elaborate excitement to elicit a smile.
You may have opened the gifts you chose for your child— the gifts you chose, not ones requested by an anxious kiddo with a list.
You may have scoured Amazon for gifts that were practical but fun and still ended up with therapy tools.
You may have started a nutrition feed rather than serving a plate of ham, sweet potatoes, and broccoli casserole that your child ignores — oh if only your child could be picky and ask for a roll and Mac n cheese.
If other parents only knew….
I get it.
Holidays aren’t all music and magic and baking.
It’s just a different version of difficult and attempting to create an atmosphere that your child can enjoy.
So I if today you’re emotionally recovering from what you experienced (or didn’t experience) yesterday; take the day.
Take the deep breath.
Take a freakin bath alone lol.
And consider what you actually did for your family—
You did all the normal responsibilities PLUS shopped, decorated, wrapped, created the Christmas that was a representation of YOUR family.
That’s incredible momma!
Whatever season of your special needs journey you’re in— give yourself grace.
It’s HARD!
But when you make room for a flexible experience, you may find that it is “the most wonderful time of the year.”
Merry Christmas Momma.
May Christ be glorified in your home during your celebration of His birth.
May the Prince of Peace deliver just that to your fragile heart.
I see you.
God sees you.
I am you.
And I’m praying for you today.
